Learn what Careflow can do for you
"Careflow has the potential to be an effective and efficient alternative to pagers. It’s not a complete replacement because in medical emergency situations there still needs to be a 'crash message' pager. However for much of the routine work, Careflow is absolutely fantastic. It allows you to triage, to generate work lists, to divide work and behave more efficiently as an at night team.
What excites me most about Careflow is the ability to get qualitative messaging between ward staff and doctors. Pagers are intrusive and can interrupt important procedures or difficult patient communications, and it’s impossible to instantly assess the urgency of the bleep. Careflow overcomes this by allowing you to send a message stating exactly what you need and why it is that you need it, allowing better task allocation between teams, quicker review of patients and support with triage and managing workflow.
Careflow improves teamwork and productivity, reducing tension between base staff and peripatetic, clinical staff. Information is stored in a secure server rather than on your mobile phone meaning you can send patient information. The individuals that I’ve shared Careflow with have found it to be incredibly intuitive, very easy and simply to use. There was no training at all outside of initial instructions to download and log in – then they were away."

"With champions for Careflow at clinical advisory board and executive level within the Trust, I am regularly getting pushed to roll out faster as people are very keen to use the platform. The widening use of Careflow at East Kent is evidence of the success that it is achieving. Alerts which highlight important information are valuable and absolutely key in tackling the challenge of keeping on top of patient care, with clear benefits to patient safety and quality of care.
There’s no doubt that Careflow has improved communication within our teams. We’ve actually had people approach us to use the product which, within in my experience of implementing IT, is pretty unusual.
Increased uptake of Careflow and greater roll out of the platform will reduce the reliance on pagers, without a doubt. Security is absolutely vital and we wouldn’t use Careflow if we weren’t assured that it was secure. Delays experienced in the past between people arriving and specialist teams being contacted has been eliminated using Careflow. Alerts and messaging therefore mean that more vulnerable patients get access to the specialist care they need, rapidly."

"We find Careflow easy to use. It is a straight forward, easy way of capturing information about patients that you can use on mobile devices. This is particularly helpful when covering a large hospital.
We’ve got 3 hospital sites, and with ease I can tap in at any one time to see information on patients that are being cared for by my team, on any site and at any time. This visual capture of information on patients is really helpful.
I can use Careflow from any PC, whichever hospital I’m in, and I think that it’s exciting. The way forward is going to be paper-light and eventually paper-free, and we’re going to need platforms like Careflow to be able to help us record information easily, for example to generate lists for handovers and capture data that we can use for audit purposes."

"Careflow has been transformational in helping to ensure the same standard of care across the South West Critical Care Network. Within four hours of sending a message I’m updated on the status of 16 different units across the South West. We post information all the time and have set up over 20 different groups to ensure our 300+ members only receive the information they need.
Careflow is really useful for sending personal messages and provides a confidential forum for seeking advice and sharing best practice. It’s far more effective than email and because it is secure, we are confident in communicating and sending confidential data. It comes as no surprise when other networks say 'I wish we had something like that'!"

"Careflow provided pretty much the complete code to do the integration. All we had to do here was to adapt that code to our database structure. That made it a lot easier to integrate; we didn’t have to reinvent the wheel. It took about two weeks and it was straightforward.
I was pleased with the help and support from Careflow and the way we managed it. I can’t say it was difficult from an integration perspective, which is good."

"Careflow has been particularly useful for people in an overseeing role and allows users to filter information and control who sees what. It’s a tool which makes communication between teams around problems much better and much more streamline.
Nurses find the platform particularly useful for problems which are hard to see or detect without having to scan through patient notes all the time. This has proven particularly useful for pressure care with a reduced the number of pressure ulcers. Alerts have functionality built around them allowing you to communicate with other members of your team, creating an audit trail.
We use Careflow to publicise and automatically push-out performance reports which measure how well you’re complying with targets. This is great way of bringing visibility to your own performance and importantly the information is in real-time rather than audit-based. Not only is real-time reporting more relevant but it’s something that you can immediately act upon. Fixing problems when they arise as opposed to retrospective data which you can’t do anything about."

"Careflow has been integrated with our Patient Administration System and is the main point of communication between the consultant microbiologists and the wider infection team. The system immediately resulted in us going paperless, introducing a robust audit trail while replacing records which were unsearchable.
Careflow facilitates more structured, patient-identified conversations to ensure consistent workflow within the team while patient lists make the handover process tidier. Colleagues find it intuitive to use and crucially it meets data protection requirements which we struggle to do without it. In principle this will change the way that infection control works."
